On May 1, 2010, I shared an email from my friend G3 from south of the border in this post.
In response to criticisms on President Obama, I wrote:
Overall, I think G3 is too hard on President Obama. Undoing a mammoth mess is a time-consuming job, I feel we should give him time, if not a break, at least now & then to catch his breath, regroup and get cracking!!
I feel like I need to yell this statement at the top of my voice into each of those so-called frustrated lefties’ ears. They seem to expect/want President Obama to rubber-stamp every notion/motion they conceive and want him to push through their agenda irrespective of the outcome. The recent furore over Solicitor General Elena Kagan’s nomination is one typical example. I am so very glad that my favourite bloggers are speaking up and calling this immature, petulance for what it exactly is!
Here is TBogg at Firedoglake:
Obama came into office promising change and people clutched that to their breasts and ran off in every direction thinking that their pet liberal/progressive cause finally had a champion who would make everything all better overnight. But sometimes change is gradual and, now sixteen months later, he is unacceptable. Quite frankly the country Obama inherited is a fucking mess and, while I’m not entirely thrilled with everything that has gone down under him, I’m willing to cut him some slack.
So, have a little faith. This is not the end of the world. Pick your battles wisely and, seriously: chill the fuck out.
I really heart me a lot of TBogg!!
